One of the most awaited Agile meet-up of the year, Agile Coffee Talk Bangalore happened on the second Saturday of October, 2015 at the Park Hotel, Bangalore. And as expected it was a full house with a mixed crowd of Agile enthusiasts, practitioners and experts coming from different organizations and industries.

The day started off with a networking session among attendees, speakers and volunteers over a steaming cup of coffee. After the networking session, the crowd slowly settles down to their seats and stage was set for the first speaker of the day to begin the proceedings.
In accordance to the ever changing business dynamics, this time around the theme was kept – “Scaling Agile: Aligning Business Value with Every Level”; to give participants an idea about the big picture of Agile transformation at an organizational level. Our experts speakers shared topics and insights that we could use at every level – Be it Portfolio Management and its importance during Agile Transformation, or the power of design thinking to connect with the end user.and very interestingly, the art of pre-viewing the future for teams to define transformation better
The first session of the day was on “Agile Portfolio Planning”, where Sanjay Gupta, Head of Consulting, SolutionsIQ, shared insights on how Agile Portfolio Planning can help businesses in scaling Agile across their organizations. He spoke on how businesses can set strategic guidance and create organization alignment from strategy to product to delivery. He was then joined by Deepak Gururaja, Agile Consulting Coach at SolutionsIQ, who also shared his experiences and observations on the topic. The session ended with a bunch of hands-on fun activities to help participants understand the art of portfolio planning more effectively.
The next session of the day was a workshop on a very interesting subject of “Applying Timeline Technique in Agile Transformation”. In this session Vijay Chandra Katte, Agile Coach at Oracle and Ebin John Poovathany, Agile Coach at JDA Software, teamed up to demonstrate how Timeline technique helps the stakeholders and teams to define realistic goals about their transformation. They also said that, practicing this technique enables an individual to visualize all that he needs to reach his goal and this can also enable them to pre-write the future of the transformation.
The final speaker of the day was Biplab Roy, AVP – Head of Agile Practice at Altimetrik, who spoke on the “Value Innovation and Delivery in Agile”. He focused on the advantages of a design centric approach in Agile development. He said – ‘Design Thinking’ can humanize the product & services and enable it to meet the end user’s needs – thus ensuring ultimate value of product or services. He emphasizes that – ‘Design Thinking’ is a multidisciplinary process that builds solutions for complex, intractable problems in a technically feasible, commercially sustainable and emotionally meaningful way.
The day ends with retrospection and networking over a yummy lunch spread – A great way to end a great morning we all agreed.
